WHAT IS LAPIXEL?
LaPIXEL is a one-month summer program taught on the LSUS campus for high school students (ages 13-17) that provides hands-on experiences using industry-level software to build video games. At the end, you'll have the opportunity to show off your very own video game! LaPIXEL is sponsored by LaPREP and has graduated 100+ participants since 2016!!!
WHAT TOPICS & SKILLSETS ARE COVERED?
Computer Graphics, Game Design, Pixel Art and Animation, Story Development, Creative Problem Solving, Critical Thinking,Teamwork and Collaboration,Presenting and Communication
WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS?
You must be a high school student between the ages of 13 and 17 to be eligible to attend. You must also have a minimum of 2.5 GPA and submit a statement of why you want to participate in this special game design program. Last, you must not have attended LaPIXEL Academy previously.
ARE THERE ANY COSTS?
There is no tuition or fees for this grant-funded program. Free lunches are provided.
WHO TEACHES THE ACADEMY?
LaPIXEL is taught by LSUS Digital Arts faculty members Allen Garcie (LaPIXEL Director) and Vikki Hrody. LSUS Digital Arts students also provide support as program assistants.
